What Should You Know Before Lower Eyelid Aesthetics?

Although lower eyelid surgery is perceived as simple, it is a surgery with many important considerations. In the preoperative evaluation, your general health status, wound healing characteristics and research on eye health are meticulously performed. Especially dry eye and previous refractive surgeries should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist. Before the surgery, you should inform your doctor about all your diseases, previous surgeries and all medications you use.

Lower eyelid surgery takes an average of 1 hour depending on the accompanying diseases of the patient. Patients are discharged on the same day after surgery. If brow lift, almond eye or upper eyelid aesthetics will be performed in the same session, the operation time may be prolonged.

How is the Recovery Process After Lower Eyelid Aesthetics?

There is usually no need to keep the eyes closed up or bandaged after aesthetic eyelid surgery. Edema and redness around your eyes disappear in an average of 1 week. If sutures were used in the surgery, your sutures will be removed at your follow-up visit one week later. Sutures are not used in procedures performed inside the eyelid. It is important for the patient to rest, lie slightly upright and apply ice, especially for the first 2 days. All necessary medication will be prescribed to you by your doctor after the surgery. After lower eyelid surgery, it is necessary to avoid acts such as severe coughing, sneezing and heavy lifting for at least 2-3 days.  At the end of the first week, you will feel well enough to engage in your normal activities, but you should avoid heavy exercise and activities for 3-4 weeks.
